We have many different classes for adults. These group classes are conducted in Cantonese.

Cantonese Opera Singing:

Two Saturdays per month 11:00am – 12:30pm

Students will learn basic Cantonese Opera music theory and how to read the song sheets of popular tunes.  As a group, students will learn new songs while improving singing skills.

Core Curriculum:

• Voice Development

Female Role Fundamental Cantonese Opera Techniques:

Two Saturdays per month

Students will learn the basic movements of the female characters in Cantonese Opera.

Core Curriculum:

• Basic Steps and Walking
• Interpretive Hand Movements
• Acting
• Long Sleeve Skills
• Fan Skills
• Stage Theory

Male Role Fundamental Cantonese Opera Techniques:

Two Sundays per month

Students will learn the basic movements of the male characters in Cantonese Opera.

• Acting

• Stage Theory

Makeup and Costuming:

The art of Cantonese Opera is not only about performing.  The art of costuming and makeup is all part of the Cantonese Opera art form.  Students will learn to apply Cantonese Opera makeup, proper costuming techniques, and also costume theory.  Traditionally in Cantonese Opera,  there are no specific makeup artists or wardrobe assistants.  The actors and actresses are all self sufficient and help each other out working as a team.
